My research interests focus on developing mosaic virus–resistant pulse crops using rice bean (Vigna umbellate) as a model system. Rice beans are known to possess natural resistance to mosaic viruses. By comparing virus-sensitive and virus-resistant rice bean genotypes, the objective is to understand the molecular and physiological mechanisms underlying mosaic virus resistance. The knowledge generated from this study will be utilized to develop mosaic virus–resistant varieties in economically important pulse crops. Another area of interest is the development of haploid inducer lines in cucumber using genome editing technologies. This approach aims to accelerate cucumber breeding programs through doubled haploid production, enabling rapid development of improved cultivars.
