Dr. VIJAY KUMAR L., obtained M. Sc (Agri.) in Entomology from University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad in 2004, Ph. D. in Entomology from University of Agricultural Sciences Bangalore with merit Gold medals and UGC-National fellowship in 2007, and Post-Doctorate from UGC New Delhi. Joined University of Agricultural Sciences Bangalore through Honourable High court of Karnataka (WP 10790/2008) as Assistant Professor of Entomology in 2009. He actively engaged in Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate teaching, research and extension. His areas of research are Insect-Plant interactions, Insect Bio-types and Rice Entomology. He taught 72 Post-graduate, 106 under-graduate courses, and guided 8 PhD and 18 M.Sc. students in Entomology as chairman of the advisory committee. Published 207 research papers in “International and national peer-reviewed & refereed journals” with high impact factor, 19 book chapters in international publishers including Springer, Page Press, ACS Inc. He also serving as reviewer for the prestigious Journals published from Elsevier, Springer, Taylor & Francis and Bio-one. Presented 34 research papers in 4 international and national conferences, edited two text books. Served as resource person for 398 training programmes and delivered “1018 guest lectures. He operated 14 major research projects funded by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), DST, UGC, ICAR, Government of India, World Bank, and other private funding agencies and received 9 incentive awards from the University. Besides these, he serving as life member of International Society for Pest Information (ISPI), Griesheim, Germany; Society for the Advancement of Rice Research (SARR), Hyderabad; Indian Society for the Advancement of Insect Science (ISAIS), Punjab; Acarological Society of India (ASI); and as Member of many professional Entomology academies including prestigious Entomological Society of America (ESA), USA.; Society for Plant Protection Sciences (SPPS), IARI, New Delhi; Entomological Research Association (ERA), Udaipur.; Society for Plant Protection and Environment (SPPE), Orissa.
