My research focuses on the development of high-yielding varieties in major cereals and pulses, with emphasis on breeding for tolerance to abiotic and biotic stresses, enhancement of nutritional quality, and efficient management of plant genetic resources. I have extensive experience in teaching undergraduate, M.Sc., and Ph.D. courses, and have guided 15 M.Sc. and 2 Ph.D. students, while serving as an advisory committee member for more than 50 postgraduate students. I have handled five research projects and actively participated in academic development through higher training programmes and national seminars, conferences, and workshops, along with international exposure through a training programme in Israel. I have published more than 95 research papers in national and international journals. My contributions include the identification and release of two pearl millet varieties and collaboration in the release of varieties in small millets, small cardamom, and rice. I have also been involved in the release of 10 pearl millet hybrids and varieties at the national level through the All India Coordinated Research Project on pearl millet.
