Recognizing the importance of agricultural education in rural regions, the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Bangalore, identified Chamarajanagara as an ideal location to establish a new agriculture college. The district spans 5,648 sq. km and is characterized by diverse agro-climatic conditions suitable for cultivating a wide range of field crops, fruits and plantation crops. To promote agricultural development in the region, the Government of Karnataka approved the establishment of the College of Agriculture, Chamarajanagara during the academic year 2018–19. The college was formally inaugurated on 27-08-2018 at the KVK Campus, Haradanahalli Farm, and the first batch of B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture students was admitted the same year. And the college transferred to the University of Agricultural Sciences, Mandya in the year 2025. Currently, 30 to 35 students are enrolled annually, with 127 students pursuing their degree on campus. The institution is supported by dedicated faculty and staff, and the students consistently excel in academics, sports and cultural activities. The college aims to provide quality agricultural education while nurturing confident, skilled and globally aware graduates. Located within the campus, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra and the All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Sorghum and Cotton actively engage in teaching, research and extension activities, offering rich hands-on learning opportunities for students.
